Ore 9:30 si parte per ritirare i palloni. comunicazioni
ancora pessime. Il primo giorno eravamo la squadra n°4 con i Croati (Tom e
Marija), oggi n°7 con i giapponesi. Ah sì, non vi abbiamo detto che ogni
camion dovrebbe recuperare due palloni !!!!

Ore 10:15 siamo nei pressi del Dubai Global Village
nel bel mezzo di nulla. Immaginate: deserto, 30 gradi all'ombra (che non
c'è) e più di 70 equipaggi x fare gas. fino qui tutto ok, peccato ci
siano solo quattro attacchi per circa 300 bombole ... c'è da pregare...

circa 3 ore per il gas. Ore 14 briefing sotto il tendone
di sinistra ???

14:30 e il briefing? e il pranzo?

... ah il pranzo ... ci passano un contenitore di plastica
con cibo di plastica ???

poi d'un tratto ci comunicano che dobbiamo salire sui bus
che ci portano da altra parte per il briefing ?!? (scusate tutti i punti
interrogativi)

Briefing fattiscente ma poi, finalmente sul campo per il
volo.

5/6 nodi di vento a terra. Si vola! i Giapponesi decidono
di no.

Decollo ore 16:30 e primo volo sul deserto e gli
allevamenti di cammelli.

ore 17:10 atterraggio.

Monica esasperata. L'autista non parla inglese. Nessuno
gli ha detto cosa doveva fare e per di più fa quello che vuole. Tom (i
croati) rimangano 5 ore nel deserto aspettando il recupero.

Communication is still missing. The first day we were team number 4 with

that we have a truck to retrieve two teams !!!!

of no where. Imagine: desert, 30 degrees Celsius under shadow (missing)
and more than 70 teams for gas. To here all ok, pity that there are
only four gauges for 300 cylinders ... please pray ...

nearly 3 hours for refueling. At 14:00 briefing under
the tent at your left ???

14:30 briefing? and what about lunch?

... ah lunch ... they pass us a plastic container with
plastic food???

just at a sudden they communicate that we must get on the
busses and we will have our briefing somewhere else ?!? (sorry for all
the exclamation points)

Briefing in-existent but then, finally, on the launch
field.

Take off at 16:30 and first flight over the desert and
the camels

17:10 landing.

Monica is furious. The driver doesn't speak English and
nobody has told him what he should do. These poor guys have never seen a
balloon before and the organization did not brief them (This was
supposed to be done by the guys from Albuquerque). They didn't even know
they were supposed to follow the balloons after takeoff. Tom is stuck
five hours in the desert waiting for retrieve.
